Intent
At Stock C of E Primary we follow the Essex Agreed Syllabus ExploRE. The aim of Religious Education is to help children to acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of Christianity and the other principal religions. Our intent is to develop the children’s appreciation of the way that religious beliefs shape life and our behaviour, develop the ability to make reasoned and informed judgements about religious and moral issues and enhance their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. The children are encouraged to develop positive attitudes of respect towards other people who hold views and beliefs different from their own, and towards a society of diverse religions and beliefs. By developing these fundamental skills, they are prepared for adult life, employment and life-long learning.
Religious Education is taught throughout the school in such a way as to reflect the overall aims, values, and philosophy of the school.
