Class teacher - Miss Hughes

Hi, I'm Miss Hughes! I'm so excited to be joining Stock and teaching Year 1 in September. 

I love art in all forms and anything creative, especially writing stories and illustrating them. I also love travelling and try to visit new destinations each year. My favourites so far have been Venice, Prague, St Petersburg and the Norwegian fjords, and next on my bucket list is Japan, or to return to Venice for the annual carnival. 

In my free time, I'm usually meeting friends for coffee, exploring new places, or spending time with my family (including my cat – a ginger ball of fluff named Bruce). I've also just completed a MSc in Psychology, which I've really enjoyed studying alongside my creative interests. 

PE days:

Wednesday & Friday  - on these days children are to wear their PE kit to school.

Please see below the curriculum overview for this half-term. Please discuss with your child at home the learning they are completing in class.

Homework expectations:

Reading - Children are sent home with a reading pack on a Thursday which needs to be returned to school the following Wednesday for us to change the pack. Please read for 10 minutes daily.

Spelling - Children have spelling words to learn each week. Spelling tests take place on a Wednesday with new words sent home in a spelling folder each Thursday. 

Maths - Children will also have a Maths Facts after half term. 

Please practice the spelling words every day.
