Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to help schools improve the educational outcomes of disadvantaged pupils. It is designed to ensure that every child has the best possible opportunities to succeed, regardless of their background or financial situation.

Who is eligible?
The funding is allocated to schools for pupils who:

  • Are or have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) within the last six years
  • Are looked after by the local authority or have been adopted from care
  • Have parents serving in the armed forces

How is the funding used?
Schools have the freedom to decide how to spend the Pupil Premium in ways that will support eligible pupils and help close the gap in achievement between them and their peers. This may include:

  • Providing additional teaching and support staff
  • Offering targeted academic interventions and tutoring
  • Supporting wellbeing and mental health
  • Funding enrichment activities, trips, or resources to broaden experiences

How do we measure impact?
We regularly review the progress of pupils supported by Pupil Premium funding to ensure that our strategies are effective. Each year, the school publishes a Pupil Premium Strategy Statement outlining how the funding has been spent and the impact it has had on pupil outcomes.
