Year 3
Class teacher – Mrs Ellis
Hello! I am delighted to be your teacher this year. I thought I’d share a little bit about myself so you can get to know me better. I am married and have three lovely daughters called Maria, Naomi, and Olivia. Our family also includes two very mischievous cats, Stormy and Toffee, who are often “grounded” for bringing home little surprises we definitely did not ask for!
A fun fact about me is that I lived in Germany for 15 years and can speak German.
When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with my family. Our home is always full of music, drama, creativity, and laughter, which is why I enjoy those subjects so much at school too!
PE days:
Tuesday & Wednesday – on these days, children should wear their PE kit to school.
Curriculum overview:
Please see below the curriculum overview for this half-term. Please discuss with your child at home the learning they are completing in class.
Homework expectations:
Homework is set on Fridays and should be returned by Thursday each week.
Children are also expected to read for 10 minutes every day and regularly practise their weekly spellings and maths facts. Daily practice makes a huge difference to children’s confidence and progress, and your support at home is greatly appreciated.
Homework 12/6/26:
This week’s homework is maths with a focus on interpreting and drawing pictograms and bar charts.
Our spelling focus this week is 'challenge words'. Please use the homework spelling activity worksheet to help your child learn these words.
A handwriting sheet is also included for your child to practise their spelling and handwriting.
The spelling folders are becoming quite full, so if you have not done so already, please empty the spelling folder and leave only this week's spellings in it. Thank you.
Your child’s next maths facts test is listed on the spelling sheet, so please practise these facts regularly as well.
Remember to read each day and record this in your child’s reading record.
